From Orbetello, in about 1.20 hours’ drive, we arrive at the port of Piombino <\/strong>where we embark for Elba Island.<\/strong><\/p>

By lunch we are in Portoferraio<\/strong>, the sun continues to be on our side, and we enjoy a drink at this bar<\/a>.<\/p>

We both came to Elba as children, with our respective families, and the pleasant memory of the island that had remained with us is now reconfirmed, as if time had never passed: the tranquility, the crystal-clear sea – where to have fun snorkeling – and the excellent food… everything is as it was etched in our memory.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Ferry service from Piombino to Portoferraio is extensive, routes are frequent, and you can travel with various companies. We chose the company Moby, for the convenience of schedule.

We have lunch not far away, in a restaurant chosen during our walk: Il Garibaldino.<\/a> Generous portions, fresh fish and honest prices: if you are looking for a simple, rustic place, we recommend it without hesitation! <\/p>

As a child I remember eating the best ice cream in the world near the port of Portoferraio. I still have the sign imprinted with the capital letters \u201cGELATERIA ARTIGIANALE,\u201d but now, looking it up on Google Maps, I discover that it is closed for good. Fortunately, disappointment immediately gives way to surprise: on the way to our accommodation we find another location of the same ice cream shop, Il Gelato degli Artisti<\/a>. <\/p>

Mark this tasty treat: if you’re passing through Procchio<\/strong>, it’s a must stop. The homemade ice cream is really delicious…try Romina’s \u201ccremino\u201d flavor, which won a regional award! \u2734\ufe0f <\/p>

We arrive at the Criage Apartments<\/a>, in Campo nell’Elba<\/strong>, where we will stay for two nights and finally leave our bags.<\/p>

The beach we spotted is called La Cala <\/a><\/strong>and it reflects exactly the kind of beach we love: almost undiscovered, not at all crowded and only accessible on foot, via a path surrounded by nature.<\/strong> In short, a little hidden corner waiting to be discovered.<\/p>

For sunset, however, we change scenery and move to le Cote Piane<\/a>: a stretch of smooth, white, granite rocks, right next to the more famous Sant’Andrea beach.<\/strong>
You can get there easily thanks to a panoramic footbridge. The atmosphere is truly magical. <\/p>

Dinner takes us to another village, Marciana Marina<\/strong>, where we choose a restaurant \u2018by feel\u2019: Rendez Vous<\/a>. Again, stroke of luck – a real best choice! \u2734\ufe0f
Ok, let’s admit it: they were all dressed very smartly, and we looked like two castaways on the loose as soon as we left the beach… but come on, even the really rich sometimes adopt a \u2018thieves on the run\u2019 look, don’t they?
