skiathos

5 days to discover this wonderful island

Hidden coves, masks in hand to observe underwater flora and fauna up close (although the sea is so clear that fish transpire without having to dive in), salt spray in the hair, stray cats seeking affection, sirtaki dancing in the background, and finally … slowness.

In the Greek islands, the sea surrounding them also keeps away the hurry and nervousness accumulated in everyday life – which is why, especially when you run out of ideas, they are always the appropriate answer.

If it was not clear, we are lovers of these modest strips of land located between the Ionian and Aegean seas, which fly the blue and white flag, like the colors that mark their homes.

After visiting Santorini, Corfu, Kefalonia and Milos, we decided it was time to breathe some calm again and so we headed where we were sure to find it.

The island of Skiathos is part of the Sporades, along with neighboring Skopelos (famous as the location of the famous movie-musical “Mamma Mia”) and Alonissos.

If your next destination is either of the last two islands mentioned, know that the nearest airport to reach them is actually Skiathos… but we’ll talk about flights later!
